9-12 Months old

Oh, the 9 to 12 month old. THEY ARE SO FUN!! By this age, many parents are getting pretty used to having a mobile baby, and the babies are living up the mobile lifestyle. Sometimes, babies start walking in this range, but if not, don't worry. They often start talking sometime in this range - OH SO FUN! I mean, really...it is so fun. So...here's what to look for in this range.

As always, be careful when interpreting this info not to freak out unnecessarily if your own baby isn't doing all of these things. Here's the fine print:
  • Keep in mind: prematurity matters. We want to give babies the credit they deserve if they were born premature! See this article for details.
  • Keep in mind: your baby may not be showing all of these skills. That's ok. Are they showing MOST of them, as in at least 75% of them? If not, back up to the 6-9 month checklist and take a peek. How is your baby doing on this list? If your baby is behind on that list as well, consider if they were premature and if their adjusted age may be playing a part. If your baby was not premature and your baby is not demonstrating skills that we usually see in the 6-9 month range, I recommend talking to your doctor.
