I am exceptionally passionate about the early identification of speech/language delays - the earlier a problem is identified, the earlier we can work on solving it! I have seen SO. MANY. TIMES. the consequences of waiting to seek out therapy, and it is almost always the same story: the child will need more time in therapy, resulting in the family spending more money on therapy, and sacrificing more of their family's time and energy working on getting to therapy, practicing, worrying, etc.
Believe me: earlier is ALWAYS better!!
For that reason, I am thrilled to be pairing with area daycares and preschools to offer free speech/language screenings for students, and in some cases, siblings as well. I want to make it EASY to get your child the help they need!

details about screening events
High 5 Speech Therapy is donating their time to provide FREE speech and language screenings for all interested students AND their siblings! Check out these details:
- WHAT: Free 15-20 minute speech and language screening to help families determine if there are any concerns for a child's speech or language development. Owner of High 5 Speech Therapy & pediatric speech-language pathologist, Emily Goudreault, will be donating her time to personally complete each screening.
- WHO: ANY CHILD attending a participating preschool/daycare and/or ANY SIBLING of that child. Ages 12 months and up are eligible. The attached "Red Flags" document may help you decide if a screening is appropriate. Keep in mind that contrary to popular myths, it is best to screen children earlier when concerns may be minimal, rather than waiting until later, when concerns may be more apparent but more difficult to treat.
- WHEN: Screenings will be scheduled for specific date ranges with each program (check with your child's teacher for more details). Current students will be screened during their class time, and parents do not need to be present (although this can be arranged if preferred/needed). Screenings for siblings will be scheduled with families and participating families will be contacted with more details after permission slips are received.
- WHERE: Your child's preschool/daycare location.
- HOW: Simply return the attached permission form to school by the specified date and you will receive a follow-up text or email with a case history form to complete, as well as details about scheduling.
- WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SCREENING?
- Owner and speech-language pathologist, Emily Goudreault, will send results and recommendations to caregivers.
- Miss Emily also offers free phone consultations for caregivers interested in discussing the results, and will happily answer any questions you may have. Should you decide that your child would benefit from speech/language therapy services, Miss Emily can chat with you about fitting your child into her therapy schedule and/or help you navigate the best options for your child's needs and your family's schedule + insurance/financial situation. A Local Resource Guide will be provided to all families.
- If (and only if) you give written permission, results and specific recommendations can also be shared with your child's teacher(s) at Dragonflies Discovery Preschool so that they are best aware of how to support your child.
